Mix-tape Love

Lost in mix-tape melancholy; malignant madness was that love
Intoning lovingly his precious name as I slept in his football scarf
An empty photo frame haunted; in which our smiles once beamed
In safe arms, a starlit car journey, that later tore me at the seams
Petals glued upon my doorstep that spelled out his love for me
A perfect proposal by a lake that veered into treacherous seas

Then came an aeroplane ascending, taking with it all my dreams
A bluey beneath a pillow, a tear-stained, religious, midnight read
Tender, timely words that reassured; when in my greatest need
A fist through a door; possessions heaped in hatred on the lawn
Contented, passionate weekends; curled up, in idle, blissful yawns
A ring once grand now jaded; a familiar friend that adorns my hand
Our love a headless, heroic, heretic and yet together we still stand

I Dream In Myths Of Ancients

I need to learn, to
you I should not bare my soul
It's obvious you
don't get me... we're not mirrored.
You and I don't make a whole

Because of Zeus, am
I condemned to walk alone?
Four legs, four arms,  two
faces, he clean split in two
..soul mates trying to find home

If it's just a myth,
then why do I feel so lost?
My soul yearns for a
kindred other, my other
half... will our paths ever cross?

Perhaps if I drown
in a sea of tears, I'll find
my kingfisher mate;
or if I hold my torch fast...
the wind won't doom my love's fate

Don't listen to me!
My head frequents clouds; I dream
in myths of ancient
Maybe I just need to ground
myself...learn to be patient

The Unseen

I tell you it's better this way
...I want to beg you to stay
The smile upon my face hides
..all the nights that I've cried

You tell me you need to see me
...I tell you to forget...be free

I want you to be so happy
...it just can't be with me

I remind you of choices we've made
...I feel my dreams futilely fade

You say, I'm always on your mind
...I deny our thoughts are entwined

I implore you... you must walk away
...I know I'll pine... day upon day

The time has now come... we must part
...I'm left with my unseen... tortured heart
