Please don't let my little life be in vain;
ignore my people's suffering and pain
We've been displaced through no fault of our own;
too scared to stay in what once was our home
Left our families, possessions behind;
hoping and praying that peace we would find
Taking perilous risks... just to be free
Cruel twist of fate made me refugee
It's too late for me; the sea claimed my life
Father mourns also my brother... his wife
My name was *Alan*, "the boy on the beach"
Empathise with compassion... I beseech
