Lost in mix-tape melancholy; malignant madness was that love
Intoning lovingly his precious name as I slept in his football scarf
An empty photo frame haunted; in which our smiles once beamed
In safe arms, a starlit car journey, that later tore me at the seams
Petals glued upon my doorstep that spelled out his love for me
A perfect proposal by a lake that veered into treacherous seas
Then came an aeroplane ascending, taking with it all my dreams
A bluey beneath a pillow, a tear-stained, religious, midnight read
Tender, timely words that reassured; when in my greatest need
A fist through a door; possessions heaped in hatred on the lawn
Contented, passionate weekends; curled up, in idle, blissful yawns
A ring once grand now jaded; a familiar friend that adorns my hand
Our love a headless, heroic, heretic and yet together we still stand
